Dr Silvio Inzucchi received his undergraduate degree from Fordham University in New York City and his MD. degree from Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA. He completed his residency in internal medicine and his post-doctoral fellowship in endocrinology and metabolism at Yale New Haven Hospital, USA. He is currently Professor of Medicine at the Yale School of Medicine, USA, where he serves as Clinical Chief of the Section of Endocrinology, Medical Director of the Yale Diabetes Center, and Program Director of the Endocrinology and Metabolism Fellowship.
His current research interests include pharmacological antihyperglycaemic therapy in both the inpatient and outpatient settings; and the link between type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance and cardiovascular complications. He has held leadership roles in several large clinical trials related to diabetes medications and their cardiovascular impact. Dr Inzucchi also has a large academic clinical practice involving a wide spectrum of patients with endocrine diseases, with a focus on diabetes and pituitary and adrenal diseases.
