Dr Kieran McCafferty is a consultant nephrologist at Barts Health NHS Trust, UK, and an honorary senior lecturer at Queen Mary University of London, UK. Dr McCafferty’s focus is developing and delivering clinical trials at a national and international level; he has delivered 60 National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) portfolio trials since 2015.

He is a national leader in the field of renal research, holding the following roles: the divisional director of research for specialist medicine at Barts Health, the deputy national NIHR renal lead, Chair of the London Kidney Network Prevention workstream, and Co-chair of the UK Kidney Research Consortium Chornic kidney disease study group. Most recently, he has been appointed to the position of Clinical Director of the NIHR Barts Health Clinical Research Facility.
