Dr Dipesh Patel is a leading endocrinology and diabetes consultant physician. His specialist expertise areas include Type 2 diabetes and associated new therapies, parathyroid disease, all thyroid disorders, polycystic ovaries, lipids/cardiovascular risk and adrenal gland problems. Dr Patel leads research projects and clinical trial investigations into diabetes-related cardiovascular disease mechanisms and prevention, which contribute to the development of better understanding of use of newer targets and therapies. He is also Principal Investigator of clinical trial work at University College London (UCL), UK.
During his training, he was awarded a PhD for his research in cholesterol transport in people with pre-diabetes and Type 2 diabetes, by Imperial College London. As an honorary associate professor at UCL and as a lead teacher of undergraduate endocrinology at the Royal Free Campus of the medical school, Dr Patel supports in the training of future doctors and specialists.
